Joe Davies is one of Wolverhampton’s most well known and well respected citizens. He had an interesting and long career in the police, becoming one of the first policemen to work in a police car fitted with a two way radio. He eventually rose to the rank of Superintendent in charge of traffic operations for the West Midlands.
After retirement in 1976 Joe concentrated on his interests including steam engines and street organs. He is now a familiar sight at local events with his wonderful “Lady Wulfrun” street organ, which he demonstrated to Princess Diana in 1992.
Joe is a wonderful ambassador for the City of Wolverhampton. He has entertained thousands of people with his street organ, which is always greatly enjoyed
